“ ‘Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it’.” (Matthew 7 v 13)
Lord, we need to be:
Caring and fruitful;
Loving and dutiful;
Prayerful and obedient;
Zealous and reverent;
Cautious and careful;
Considerate and thoughtful;
Charitable and active.
“Through wisdom a house is built and by understanding it is established.” (Proverbs 24 v 3)
Lord, we need to be:
Industrious and effective;
Helpful and uplifted;
Sharing with worries shifted;
Secure and protected;
Guided and directed;
Spiritually fed and believing;
Spiritually led and trusting.
“For the LORD gives wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding.” (Proverbs 2 v 6)
That by us,
You alive in us, Lord Jesus,
Possessed and blessed;
By the Spirit of holiness,
To the Lord God be the glory.
This is to be our life story,
Our call in You, Lord Jesus.
“ ‘Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it’.” (Matthew 7 v 14)
“ ‘Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven’.” (Matthew 5 v 16)
Lord Jesus, You know it is by no means easy for us to live a holy life like You did. You were filled by the Holy Spirit and thereby, lived entirely to God’s glory, obediently and reverently. Fill us by the very same Spirit.
“He stores up sound wisdom for the upright; He is a shield to those who walk uprightly; He guards the path of justice, and preserves the way of His saints.” (Proverbs 2 v 7, 8)Holy Spirit, Lord, pray in us so we gain wisdom and the spiritual understanding of what it means to honour our call in Jesus.
We cannot do this without You, for all too easily the world, the flesh and the devil lure us away, tempt and distract us. We have to learn to understand Jesus as the fount of all wisdom and truth.
Jesus is as He says He is, the way to live to give glory to God, His truth inspiring us, His love empowering us, His forgiveness now at the † of our redemption, securing for us the serious business of living through holiness.
We need please, the wisdom to realise that to be fruitful in service – loving, joyful, peaceful, patient, kindly, godly, faithful to the cause and always well self-controlled – to exhibit such qualities reveals a life
transfigured by the presence of Jesus in us, made possible by You, Holy Spirit, Lord.
Wisdom “Understands what is pleasing in Your eyes and what agrees with Your commandments.
Despatch her from the holy heavens, send her forth from Your throne of glory to help me and to toil with me and teach me what is pleasing to You.” (Wisdom 9 v 9, 10 TNJB)
Please do this, Holy Spirit, Lord for You are the Purveyor of all wisdom and truth, that which we find in abundance in the Lord Jesus. This must be a part of the fullness of life He promises us. I ask for all believers
to receive of this benefit, all for the good of their charitable works.
“Since she knows and understands everything, she will guide us prudently in our actions and will protect us with her glory. Then all we do will be acceptable...” (v 11 the singular invocation changed to plural) as the Lord Jesus makes us righteously wise, cautious and careful.
How glorious it is to be possessed and blessed of our Saviour Brother as God’s Word, our Master as You too, possess and bless us, Holy Spirit of wisdom. Thank You for all that You do for us.
Please keep us praying so godly results are ever unfolding, for our call in Jesus is to serve wholeheartedly, wisdom and truth at the very centre of our ministry. May this ever be so. Amen.
